Fair Trade Holiday Festival Sale

Join us November 2010 for the Ten Thousand Villages ‘Fair Trade’ Holiday Festival Sale at the Federated Church of Livingston.

The Federated Church of Livingston will hold its fifth annual Ten Thousand Villages ‘Fair Trade’ Festival Sale in November 2010. As we approach the 2010 Holiday Season we have partnered with the non-profit organization, Ten Thousand Villages once again to give you an opportunity to adorn your friends and families with unusual and one-of-a-kind, fairly priced home décor and fashion items. These unique objects have been handcrafted by artisans from over 38 countries where Ten Thousand Villages has a longstanding, nurturing relationship with the more than 130 artisan groups who produce these skillfully made artifacts. As a Ten Thousand Villages sponsor we are committed to providing vital, fair income to tens of thousands of artisans and their families…and to keeping their crafts and stories alive through our annual Ten Thousand Villages ‘Fair Trade’ Holiday Festival Sale.

To achieve their mission, Ten Thousand Villages is not only a non-profit organization but also a founding member of the International Fair Trade Association (IFAT), now the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and a longstanding member of the Fair Trade Federation (FTF), two groups committed to the ideal that every worker should receive a fair wage for their work. So for more than 60 years, Ten Thousand Villages has been establishing long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans lack opportunities for a stable income, giving them a fair wage for their products and a sales outlet. As one of the oldest and largest fair trade retailers in North America, Ten Thousand Villages gives each skilled artisan the chance to earn a respectable living, financial independence and hope for them and their family’s futures.

As North American citizens who have been hurt by free trade as reflected in today’s economy we should be excited about buying fairly-traded products that, not only don’t hurt us economically, but help others whom would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed. So please join us to make a difference globally this holiday season by purchasing your holiday wares at the Federated Church of Livingston’s Ten Thousand Villages ‘Fair Trade’ Holiday Festival Sale. A dedicated staff of church volunteers will help to make your shopping experience a pleasure and with you our fourth year a great success.
